I will be getting my car tested soon in order to renew my plates and was wondering what I can do to increase my chances of passing. I will be changing spark plugs, cap and rotor, and fuel filter before hand. I know I am running very rich due to the black soot on the muffler and my a/f reading from my last dyno run.
Would zip tieing (sp) the bypass valve open help any?
How about timing (advance/retard)?
Fuel pressure (increase/decrease)?
My setup:
8psi JRSC on SOHC non-vetc
B&M FPR
Cartech FMU
Stock injectors
Walbro fuel pump
Thanks

For me. . . make sure your cat. is heated up nice and hot before they make the actual test. Have them run the car on the rollers for a little bit. That will make a big difference.

You can always lean the engine out a little by turning down the fuel presure(depending on where you have it set now)

I'm assuming this will be in Canada...
How is the testing performed, and what components are measured?

You are correct, this is in Canada.
I'm not too sure how they test it but from what I've heard they put it on some sort of dyno (not sure if it's the same one that we're familiar with) and they look at the amount of Hydrocarbons (HC), Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx)emitted from your exhaust. How they determine the values, that I don't know.

My guess is with a tailpipe sniffer.
